Internet is on rise in Bahrain and GCC countries !

Bahrain in these years has been amongst the fastest growing GCC countries. The growing literacy rate for Internet has been overwhelming. Bahrain has 402,000 internet users as of September 2009 as opposed to 40,000 in the year 2000 ! Experts believe that the growth of internet in Bahrain will touch 80% in the coming years , making Bahrain likely to compete with Israel and UAE for the top spot to have largest percentage of internet penetration in the middle east.

The growth not only applies to Bahrain , in the whole middle east, penetration percentage is at 28.3%  in comparison to 25.3% for the rest of the world !

A major reason for this growth was the drop in prices by Computer Manufacturers, making computers much more affordable since the year of 2000. Every individual can afford a computer, encouraging them to learn and use it.

Bahrain has made the best use of the Internet as the source of inspiration for Media. It's the center of attention for businesses, governments and individuals around the world. It has spawned entirely new industries, transformed existing ones, and become a global cultural phenomenon. But despite its impact, Bahrain’s financial institutions have to use this favorable situation in promoting their marketing concepts in banking and transaction online through Internet.

The government in Bahrain has created an environment that has encouraged the Internet to flourish, and enabled companies to bring their innovations to consumers at an amazing speed.

Over the next few years, governments worldwide will find it rewarding to pursue policies that speed the building of the infrastructure that will make it possible to bring the benefits of the Internet to more people. This includes finding ways to speedup the implementation of broadband technologies, deregulate where necessary to stimulate competition, resist the temptation to enact new regulations, and redouble our efforts to protect content on the Internet by strengthening and enforcing intellectual-property rights.

Bahrain is keeping the Internet secure with huge investments and agreements with multi-national firms to keep data safe. Security has always been a major issue for businesses and governments. Much the same is true for individual security-long before the Internet, people were happily handing their credit cards to restaurant waiters they had never met before, and that too is unlikely to change.
